The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flood watch for the Greater Reno, Carson City and Minden areas starting Saturday evening through Monday morning.

Heavy rainfall from an atmospheric river is forecasted to move into the region Saturday night and may continue into Monday morning.

Snowfall is expected near 6,000 feet of elevation some time Monday.

Debris and ash flows, rock and tree falls are possible especially in recently burned areas and steep terrain like burn scars left behind by the Tamarack and Caldor fires.

Meteorologists say small creeks and streams are expected to rise. Property in and near river creek channels should be moved to safety as soon as possible.

Ponding water on roadways is expected to cause hazardous driving conditions especially along Interstate 80 between Reno and Truckee.
