NSP: Victims of Superior grain elevator shooting identified

Nebraska State Patrol has released the names of the victims from the Superior grain elevator shooting.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Patrol released the names of the victims from the Superior grain elevator shooting that happened Thursday afternoon.

Sandra Nelson, 60, of Formoso, Kansas was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. Darin Koepke, 53, of Hadar, Nebraska was flown to a Lincoln hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The third victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Superior hospital, the hospital released him Thursday afternoon, according to NSP.

NSP says they do not plan on charging the employee who fired back in self defense during the shooting.

The incident is still being investigated and we will update the story when more information is available.

A vigil for the victims is taking place Sunday, October 24 at City Park Bandshell at 7 p.m in Superior.
