TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Some Wabash Valley workers protested the COVID-19 vaccine mandate Friday outside a Terre Haute company.

The group of employees held signs in front of GE Aviation Friday afternoon on South Third Street. The company is complying with President Joe Biden’s executive order that requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated.

Those protesting today said they want their voices to be heard.

“We have no animosity against GE. Or any of the people who work there,” protestor Shane White said. “We understand that everybody has a choice and we’re just asking for our choice to be recognized.”

WTWO reached out to GE Aviation for a statement about today’s protest. In a reply, spokesperson Nick Hurm said this:

“As a federal contractor, GE is complying with the executive order which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All GE U.S. employees will be fully vaccinated or receive a medical or religious accommodation by December 8th as required in the order.”
