PENNSYLVANIA — More potentially contaminated meat may have found its way into Pennsylvania homes, federal authorities announced this week.

This time, the concern is over some 24,000 pounds of frozen raw lamb shoulder form AFFCO USAthat was not re-inspected when it arrived in the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

The news comes just days after officials warned that plastic had been found in ground turkey, and that there were unacceptable lead levels in beef gravy products.

The lamb came from New Zealand. The missed inspection was discovered during a routine surveillance of activities surrounding imported products.

The frozen raw lamb shoulder comes in 33 to 39 pound boxes bearing the shipping mark "M1353023." Each box also contains the New Zealand seal "SPM135."

In addition to Pennsylvania, distributors in Florida, Michigan, Missouri, and New York, also received the lamb.

As of Friday, there were no reports of illnesses due to these products being consumed. However, health inspectors still urge that people throw away the lamb or return it to where they purchased it.

The meat recall that impacted Pennsylvania and several other states earlier in October involved both Butterball ground turkey and Cider beef gravy.
