Randolph County: Officers locate inmate who escaped in dump truck Thursday
Authorities in North Carolina have located an inmate they said escaped from a work detail in a dump truck.

According to a news release, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office received two calls regarding a suspicious person walking on Randleman Road believed to be 53-year-old Richard Alexander Mundy, just before 6 p.m. Saturday.
Officials said that upon officers' arrival, they were able to confirm that it was Mundy and he was taken into custody.
Mundy will be transferred in to the custody of the N.C. Department of Correction.
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety said Mundy, was working in an off-prison assignment in Laurinburg just before noon Thursday when he stole the dump truck, news outlets reported.
The dump truck was found unattended in Randleman on Friday morning the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mundy was seen Thursday afternoon in Asheboro driving a white, single cab Chevrolet truck with a black flat bed and side racks, the sheriff’s office said. The truck was also believed to be stolen.
Mundy is serving a more than 28-year prison sentence for robbery with a dangerous weapon the sheriff’s office said. His projected release was in 2025.
