Police: Man arrested in South-Central El Paso stabbing as he stood over victim with knife

A 33-year-old man arrested in connection with a stabbing was found by police standing over the victim with a knife in South-Central El Paso, officials said.

Jesus Luna Vasquez allegedly stabbed Bruce Edward Foster, 62, about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Magoffin Avenue near Cotton Street, El Paso Police Department officials said.

Officers responding to a report of a stabbing arrived on the scene and saw Luna Vasquez with a knife standing over Foster, officials said.

Luna Vasquez allegedly lied about his name to officers, which was discovered as officers continued their investigation into the incident.

Foster was taken to University Medical Center of El Paso for treatment and is in stable condition, officials said.

Luna Vasquez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify.

He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on Thursday on a bond totaling $200,300. He had yet to post bail as of Friday, jail logs show.
