UPDATE: State of South Dakota websites functioning after failure Friday morning

UPDATE: Government websites controlled by the state of South Dakota are up and running again after more than four hours of technical difficulty.

Testing caused an issue with production services, which caused equipment failure to the backbone of the internet system, IT worker Heather Perry said.

All websites and all connectivity statewide, were out at 6:53 a.m. with connectivity restored by 9:30 a.m. for most websites. By about 1:05 p.m. all websites were back online. said.

Perry said it was not a cyber attack and everyone's data is safe.

Earlier: Government websites controlled by the state of South Dakota are down as of Friday morning.

The Governor's office, eCourts, Department of Education and Department of Health are among those impacted.

An error message shows the governor's office website is down.

Error messages state that "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred."

Officials with the Bureau of Information and Technology are working to fix the server error at this time.

The daily COVID-19 number release from the DOH will be delayed because of the technology issue.
