DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A young man from Dry Fork died Thursday night after crashing a sports car into a pole in Danville.

The Danville Police Department says officers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a Nissan 240SX in the 500 block of Riverside Drive at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21.

According to the department, the car was going eastbound at a high speed before leaving the highway, hitting a utility pole, and coming to rest on the shoulder of the road.

Police identified the driver — who was the only person in the vehicle — as 21-year-old Cody Lee Barbour, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
