St. George man wins National Long Drive Championship

David Watson of St. George won the 60+ long drive championship.

Life-long St. George David L. Watson won the National Amateur Long Drive competition in the 60 and older division.

At the regional qualifier in Mesquite, Nevada in April, Watson won the Super Senior Division with a drive of 292'7" yards.

In August, 12 Super Senior regional winners from around the nation met in the national finals in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

In the three-man finals, Watson won the national title narrowly over Doug Miller of Missouri and David Brinker of Texas by 1 yard and 2 inches, at 268'5" yards.
