Ohio: a state known for football, the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, the birthplace of the Wright Brothers and now, as the scariest state?

It's true, at least according to a report released by MyBaggage.com, which ranked the Buckeye state first for the number of haunted attractions.

"Well done Ohio, you guys are truly terrifying," the report said.

With 34, Ohio had the highest number of haunted houses. Indiana came second with 28 haunted houses, Pennsylvania was third with 25, and Kentucky was ranked fourth, with 19.

MyBaggage.com determined the overall rankings by looking at "everything spooky" within an area and seeing which state had the most frequently highest-rated attraction.

Even though Ohio was the scariest state overall, it's not home to the top-ranked haunted house. That honor went to the Creepy Hollow Haunted House in Rosharon, Texas. The Factory of Terror Haunted House in Canton, Ohio, was ranked eighth overall.

But let's not forget: Kings Island's Halloween Haunt this year was voted the "Best Theme Park Halloween Event," thanks to rankings released by USA TODAY and 10Best.

The factors MyBaggage.com used to determine the best overall haunted house included: minimum cost, the cast, costumes, customer service, atmosphere, special effects, theme, scare factor and entertainment and value.

Out of 252 houses, Frightmare Manor in Tennessee came dead last. Dr. Bogies Haunted House and Dekay’s House of Screams, both in Kentucky, came in 250th and 251st, respectively.
