Colorful Night in Fort Worth for WVU Football’s Game 7 Action

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – When the 2-4 WVU Mountaineers meet the 3-3 TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday in Fort Worth, the team will don its white jerseys and gold pants. They’ll cap the trifecta off with the signature blue helmets and white gloves.

West Virginia is 15-13 in these since 2001, and are coming off a close 34-27 road loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the combination last season.

When WVU travels to the Lone Star State to play the Horned Frogs, Mountaineer head coach Neal Brown will seek a reprieve from his 0-7 road loss streak and his 0-3 conference start. Both teams enter this game on losing streaks, and if there’s a silver lining for Mountaineer fans, it’s that this TCU team is also coming off a 1-2 conference start, winning only the middle game against the Red Raiders 52-31.

The last time WVU and TCU met, Brown’s team lit up Milan Puskar Stadium, downing the Horned Frogs, for the third straight season, to the tune of a Week 8, 24-6 win. Both QB1s, WVU’s Jarret Doege and TCU’s Max Duggan, are still leading their teams. Doege went 19-26 for 212 yards and a one-yard rushing touchdown to kick off the scoring, while rushing threat Duggan connected on 16 of his 29 passing attempts for a total of 161 yards and an interception. WVU held the TCU rush to only two field goals in the middle quarters, capping the scoring off 17-6 before pounding another Doege to T.J. Simmons 38-yard touchdown pass to solidify the win. It boosted the Mountaineers to 6-4 in the series, but heading into Amon G. Carter Stadium, it may be a different story. WVU and TCU are tied at two wins each in Fort Worth, and TCU has been projected as a slim winner this season in the Las Vegas odds.
