State police discover bomb along Ohio River

RAVEN ROCK, W.Va. — State police are investigating after a “self manufactured” bomb was dismantled along the Ohio River near the Pleasants/Tyler County line.

An Explosive Response Team was called to the scene Thursday afternoon where they found the device on a barge and rendered it safe before removing it.

The U.S. Coast Guard established a safety zone between mile markers 141 and 145 where no river traffic was not permitted.

The St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department also put its boat in the water at the Frontier Boat Launch on the Ohio side of the river.

The FBI was called in to investigate. No one was hurt.

No charges have been filed.
