Woman and a dog in her vehicle die in head-on crash in Kanawha

Kanawha County deputies said a woman and a dog in her vehicle died Friday morning in a head-on crash.

Barbara Facemyer, 61, of Sissonville was transported to an area hospital following a 4:20 a.m. crash in the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Big Chimney and was later pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

Facemyer was driving a car that crossed the center line of the road and struck a pickup truck head-on, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

A dog in Facemyer’s vehicle also died in the crash.

The crash happened about 4:20 a.m. in the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

A car and a pickup truck were involved in the head-on collision.

The road was closed but reopened about 7:30 a.m.
