What are the odds? Titans vs. Chiefs

From losing to the Jets to beating the Bills — welcome to the Tennessee Titans experience. Derrick Henry came up big again for the Titans on Monday night, and the defense came up with a couple of key stops against Josh Allen and the perceived best team in the AFC.

Now the Titans get perhaps the next biggest threat, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes and company have started slow this season, sitting at 3-3 on the year. Losses to the Bills, Chargers and Ravens, each potential playoff matchups, have highlighted their season to this point. They’ll get another playoff preview this week, traveling to Nashville to face the Titans.

Both sides match up pretty well with each other — Derrick Henry will face the league’s 27th ranked run defense while Patrick Mahomes will face the league’s 24th ranked pass defense.

The Titans are five point underdogs, per DraftKings Sportsbook. The total sits at a staggering 58 points.

To me, it seems like a matchup of which defense can make enough plays to win. We saw that same scenario play out last week against the Bills, as the Titans came up with two late stops to win the game. Can they do it again this week against Mahomes, Hill and Kelce? Even down a couple of corners?

Kristian Fulton will miss this one on IR and Caleb Farley is out for the season. That leaves Jackrabbit Jenkins, Breon Borders and Chris Jackson as the main line of defense on Sunday. For the Chiefs, we’re waiting to see if standout defensive tackle Chris Jones will be able to go. Obviously, that’s a big development as they try to defend Derrick Henry.

Titans +5 at home? That seems pretty nice to me considering Henry’s matchup here and how the Chiefs have struggled out of the gates. We’ll find out on Sunday at noon.
