In Fort Worth, Goldee's Barbecue will open today for the first time since being named the top barbecue joint in the state byTexas Monthly magazine.
It's the magazine's first updated rankings in four years. The last time, Goldee's wasn't even a thing.
The small restaurant on Dick Price Road opened in February of 2020, just weeks before Coronavirus lockdowns forced the owners to close down the dining room. But even with that speed bump, the restaurant's reputation has grown quickly.
Texas Monthly says Goldee's food is "close to perfection."
The magazine's rankings were released Monday but Goldee's is open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So, today will be the first chance Goldee's newbies will have their chance to get a taste.
The doors open today at 11:00 a.m. On the Goldee's Facebook page, the owners say: "we recommend you get here before 11am! We don’t know what time the line will start!"
