UPDATE 7:45 A.M. 10/22/2021 – One woman was transported to the hospital this morning where she was later pronounced dead after a car accident in Big Chimney.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department, 61-year-old Barbara Facemyer of Sissonville, WV was the driver who died.

She was driving a sedan, crossed the centerline of the road, and struck a pickup truck head-on. Facemyer’s dog was in the car with her during the time of the crash who also died.

Deputies say the driver of the pickup truck involved was not injured.

Pennsylvania Ave. was shut down during the investigation but was reopened.

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — One person is dead following an early morning accident on Pennsylvania Avenue in Big Chimney Friday morning.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, one person died after the head-on collision. The accident happened just before 4:30 A.M. Friday morning. It happened near the 4000 block of Pennslyvania Avenue, near Rolling Smoke BBQ.

The investigation is ongoing and the road is shut down. There is no word on how long the closure will last.
