Dayton Public Schools looking for workers to fill multiple positions

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) - Dayton Public Schools is hosting another job fair to fill multiple positions throughout its schools.

The district has had multiple hiring events this year, as many schools have been lacking teachers, bus drivers and so much more.

We spoke with Chief of Human Resources Dave Harmon, he told us DPS is looking for staff members in all employment areas.

“Generally, what we're hoping to see is bus drivers, paraprofessionals, food service workers. Any anyone who is in the classified side of our house, electricians, plumbers, mechanics coordinators, security resource officer. Anything along the lines that are the support side of the house for teaching and learning side of the house,” Harmon said.

Although the district continues the search for employees, school officials told me they’re actually in a good position right now but they want to stay prepared.

Chief Harmon said the reason DPS has had so many hiring events is that they are trying to stay ahead, instead of dealing with a lack of employees.

“We don't have a ton of openings right now and so that's, that's been a good thing. I think part of that is due to the fact that we've been trying to meet with people often," Harmon said. "We're interviewing at all times to try to, to keep people coming in and specifically with teachers and administrators where, you know, now we're going to be shifting into that, you know the December graduate candidates. So, now we're starting to look at people who we know are about to graduate, and so we're just trying to stay out in front of it.”

Harmon said if you have a resume, bring it, if not, employers will work with you on that.

The job fair is from 10:00 this morning until 3:00 this afternoon at 329 Abbey Avenue.
