GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A couple of overnight crashes on busy roadways in Greensboro may snarl traffic.
North Josephine Boyd Street was shut down between Benjamin Parkway and Campus Drive in a crash that happened just after midnight.
The driver and four other people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say speed and impairment were factors.
The driver was charged with a DWI.
The roadway reopened just before 7 a.m.
A second crash happened on Gate City Boulevard after 2 a.m.
Jose Rodriguez, 20, of Greensboro was headed west on West Gate City Boulevard at a high rate of speed and ran off the road to the right and crashed into two telephone poles and several other objects along the roadside, according to Greensboro police.
Rodriguez was taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
West Gate City Boulevard was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.
