Woman dies, man hurt after shooting along 10th Street on west side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman died and a man was hurt Thursday night after a shooting along West 10th Street, police said.

Dispatch information showed Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received an incomplete 911 call about 8:30 p.m. and then went on a person shot run about three minutes later along West 10th Street near its intersections with North Pershing Avenue and North Sheffield Avenue. That’s in an area with homes and businesses just west of North Belmont Avenue on the west side.

Both people shot were taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The man had attempted to drive the a hospital, police said.

IMPD informed the media shortly after 10:30 p.m. that the woman, Autumn Carter, 18, had died.

Police have not said what connection the man and woman may have, or whether a suspect is being sought.
