MOORHEAD — A St. Cloud man who allegedly drove the suspect in a fatal Moorhead shooting to the area and helped him buy a vehicle before the crime is facing an accomplice charge.

Ibrahim Abdiaziz Isaac, 29, of St. Cloud appeared Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Clay County District Court on a felony charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder. He remained in custody Thursday at the Clay County Jail on a $2 million bond.

Isaac was arrested last Friday, more than a month after the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Abdi Mohamed Abdi on Sept. 10 in the parking lot of an apartment at the corner of 17th Street South and 30th Avenue South. Police alleged 26-year-old Idris Abdillahi Haji-Mohamed of Rochester shot Abdi multiple times.

Haji-Mohamed was charged with second-degree murder, a felony. No motive has been disclosed in the case.

Court documents unsealed this week shed more light on the events leading up to Abdi’s death on the evening of Sept. 10, particularly Isaac’s alleged role.

According to a criminal complaint:

Isaac drove Haji-Mohamed to the Fargo-Moorhead area on Sept. 10 in a 2019 silver Toyota Camry. Around 5:30 p.m. after they arrived, they bought a black 2015 Chrysler 200. They also asked the car dealership to paint the tire rims black.

Isaac asked the dealer to put the car in his name, but Haji-Mohamed initially contacted the dealer to set up the purchase.

Haji-Mohamed used the black car to go to Casey’s General Store at 1702 30th Ave. S., where Abdi and others were in another vehicle. After Haji-Mohamed went inside and purchased either cigarettes or cigars, he came out and spoke with the people inside the vehicle that contained Abdi.

Haji-Mohamed then walked away, got into the black car and followed the vehicle Abdi was in to apartments at 3009 18th St. S.

As Abdi was smoking outside the vehicle, Haji-Mohamed arrived, got out of the vehicle and started chasing and shooting Abdi, court documents alleged. Abdi died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Haji-Mohamed, who was arrested Sept. 13 in Rochester, was in frequent contact with Isaac while Haji-Mohamed was in jail, according to a criminal complaint. Police believe Isaac drove Haji-Mohamed to St. Cloud.

Detectives said they found ammunition in Isaac’s apartment that matched shell casings found at the scene of the crime.

Isaac initially denied being in Fargo-Moorhead during the shooting, according to the complaint. He later said he was in the metro area but denied knowing Haji-Mohamed, the complaint said.

He then said he left “them” and the Fargo-Moorhead area after stopping at a gas station, the complaint said.

Haji-Mohamed was released from custody last month after posting $1 million for bail . He has to follow multiple conditions, including staying in Minnesota unless given written permission by the court to leave the state.
