Parents from across the state are suing 145 school districts, the Illinois Department of Public Health, The Illinois State Board of Education and Governor Pritzker over the mask mandate and excluding kids from school without due process.

Attorney Thomas DeVore, with Silver Lake Law, Ltd., is representing the parents and taking heat about it from Governor JB Pritzker. DeVore filed the lawsuit on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Pritzker addressed the lawsuit in a news conference and called DeVore a “grifter" and said the reign of grifting and terror will come to an end.

“Going around and suing school districts and the governor and the attorney general and everybody else order to keep people less safe makes zero sense to me. So we are going to push back as hard as we can, certainly we’ll be in court,” said Pritzker.

We asked Devore for his thoughts after the press conference.

“It’s not only defamatory, it’s also tactless and moreover an insult to the hundreds of parents who have joined this lawsuit. They joined this lawsuit by calling and asking to be joined to it, and they want to be a part of it. They are trying to defend their children’s constitutional rights to choose,” says Devore.

DeVore says he has personally hired an attorney after Pritzker's statements were made about him today.

He hopes Pritzker does defend his action in court.

DeVore doesn’t deny that the legislature may be able to make these laws, but not an executive like Pritzker.
