A man wanted by the Mobile Police Department in connection with a home invasion has died.

The suspect shot himself as police officers were closing in on him. We are still awaiting to learn more about the suspect.

On Thursday, the suspect shot himself inside a home along S. Ann St. near the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science. Police blocked off a portion of the road as they investigated.

On Wednesday, witnesses say the suspect forced his way into a home on Blair Avenue shooting a man laying flooring inside a home. The injuries of the man who was shot are not life threatening.

Adam Boles works for Wimpee’s Floor Center. Boles and his team were working when they say the suspect approached the home Wednesday along Blair Avenue. Boles says his boss was inside putting a finish over the floor when the suspect forced his way into the house demanding keys to their work van.

Boles tells us his boss pushed the suspect out of the door and that’s when the male suspect shot him through the door. It struck him in the back and the bullet went into his shoulder. The bullet is still lodged into his shoulder blade.

Following Thursday’s shooting staff for NBC 15 News saw police searching a car with Tennessee plates believed to belong to the suspect.
