An interstate shooting has shut down part of a Memphis interstate during rush hour, according to Memphis Police.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a heavy police presence was reported on I-40 near Austin Peay around 5:17 p.m.

Video showed police swarming the off-ramp near I-40 Eastbound and Jackson Ave.

That police presence was the result of gunfire that rang out near I-40 and Austin Peay, according to police.

Memphis Police said that one person was shot and taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

No information on the shooter has been released at this time.

Any information that leads to an arrest could be worth up to $1,000.

As of 6 p.m., only one of the three Eastbound lanes in the area of I-40 and Jackson Ave. were open.
