No major injuries in officer-involved accident

Wichita Falls Police worked the scene of an accident involving a police officer Thursday. 

A Wichita Falls police car was involved in an accident Thursday afternoon.

According to officers on the scene: 

Officers responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of Brook Avenue at Collins about 4 p.m.

An SUV, travelling east on Collins pulled in front of a southbound police patrol car and the two collided. Both drivers and one child went to the hospital for treatment but no major injuries were reported.

Sgt. Paul Newton said the driver of the SUV said she saw the patrol vehicle but thought it was farther away than it was and tried to cross the intersection. Newton said there were three children in the SUV but none was injured. Part of the intersection was closed while the accident scene was cleared. 

The SUV was impounded because the driver did not have a driver's license.
