One person was killed in an early morning rollover crash on Ohio 100 southeast of the city Thursday. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family.

According to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, the crash was reported by a 911 call received at 5:17 a.m. Thursday. Deputies arriving at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Ohio 100 north of Parcher Road found a 2007 gray Nissan car overturned in a field, northeast from the roadway.

The driver had been ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by the assistant county coroner, the release states. The preliminary investigation indicates the Nissan was northbound on Ohio 100 and failed to negotiate a curve. The driver brought the car back on the road and over-corrected, going off the northeast side. The vehicle struck the ditch and rolled over, ejecting the driver and coming to rest on its top.

The Whetstone Township Fire Department and Portsmouth Ambulance Service also responded to the scene. Oceola Garage towed the vehicle from the scene. This crash remains under investigation.
