Thousands of athletes are descending upon Sacramento for the inaugural Ironman California this Sunday.The Ironman is a triathlon that’s made up of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a regular marathon’s 26.2-mile run.The race will trigger several road closures across Sacramento and Yolo counties that Sunday from as early as 6 a.m. to around 2 a.m. Monday.| MORE | See the full schedule of road closure on race day hereIronman’s website shows the marathon course running from West Sacramento, through Discovery Park, to Capitol Mall and down through Miller Regional Park.The bike course goes from Riverfront Street and down to Ryer Avenue in Yolo County.A storm moving in Sunday is also expected to impact the race as it brings heavy rains and gusty winds. Ironman’s website shows the marathon course running from West Sacramento, through Discovery Park, to Capitol Mall and down through Miller Regional Park.
