You can now reserve your spot in line ahead of time.
All you have to do is go online, select your travel date and airline. Then, list the number of passengers in your party, and choose a time.
Since it’s still a pilot program, the reservation lane is only available from 5 a-m to 11 a-m, but it is expected to be extended.
Vice president of airport innovation, Stan Swaintek, says travelers can book their reservation in advance or when arriving.
He says on day one, it’s already proven to be a popular service.
“I will say, having launched multiple products before, this was the most successful day one launch of a product that we’ve seen in a very long time,” Swaintek said.
Though the program is hosted by Clear, you don’t have to be a Clear member to use it.
Clear members and those with TSA PreCheck do have access to expedited airport security, but they also receive other benefits.
With TSA PreCheck, for example, flyers don’t have to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts or jackets.
The reservation lane is more like regular security, but faster, free, and accessible at the east and west checkpoints.
Orlando International Airport is the only airport offering the reservation lane right now, but the program is expected to open at other airports as well.
