The International Day of the Nacho takes place on October 21, according to nationaldaycalendar.com.
The day pays homage to the delicious dish and the man behind its creation, said the website.
Nachos were created in 1943 in a small town in Mexico called Piedras Negras which is right across the border from Eagle Press, Texas.
U.S. military wives were in town and visited a restaurant owned by Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya.
Needing a quick snack for the women, Anaya fried tortillas and topped them with melted cheese and jalapeños.
The cheesy dish made its way across the border to Texas where it became super popular in the 1970s when the Texas Rangers baseball team served it at Arlington Stadium.
Eventually, nachos were seen around the world with different countries taking their own spin on it, said the website.
