Man killed in Brockton crash — second pedestrian fatality in a week

BROCKTON — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday afternoon, Brockton police said.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. at 231 North Quincy St., the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said Friday morning. 

The DA's Office said Brockton police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Brockton police and state police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021at North Quincy Street and Brookfield Drive in Brockton.

The victim was rushed to Brockton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was not carrying identification at the time of the incident, the DA's Office said.

The female driver whose car struck the man stayed on scene. 

Authorities are still investigating the crash.

This is the second pedestrian fatality in a week in Brockton.

Joao Fernandes, 54 of Brockton died Thursday, Oct. 14 after being hit by an ice cream truck, the Plymouth County district attorney's office said. 

That crash occurred at the intersection of North Main and Huntington streets.
