TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police detectives have arrested a man in connection an Oct. 14 West Toledo shooting.
According to police reports, at 10:36 p.m. officers responded to a reported person shot on the 1100 block of Montrose Avenue.
On scene they found 18-year-old Davon Butler suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
He was taken to Toledo Hospital where he later died.
Police later reported that 57-year-old Marvin Dyer was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder.
Court documents say eight witnesses described that Dyer was in an argument with someone else and fired a gun, meaning to hit the person he was speaking to but striking Butler instead.
Dyer was arraigned Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29 and he is currently incarcerated at the Lucas County Corrections Center in lieu of a $1 million bond.
