BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – On Thursday, Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) responded to a single-family residential house fire on Howard Street.

BRFD arrived at 621 Howard St. to find fire coming from a bedroom in the back of the house. Seven firefighters entered the home and put out the fire before it could spread. BRFD said the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction. One person was in the home at the time of the fire but made it out safely.

There were no reported injuries but Baton Rouge Police Department, emergency services and Entergy were at the scene. Red Cross was called to help the displaced resident.
