Pittsburgh Pumpkin Assault: Man Accused Of Using Gourd As Weapon

A Pittsburgh man allegedly hit a woman in the head with a pumpkin.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Bloomfield man was arrested after allegedly throwing pumpkins at a woman who parked in front of his Pearl Street home.

James Gazis, 40, admitted to throwing the pumpkins, according to police.

Gazis told police he heard his wife shouting about the car and claiming it almost hit her and her son, court documents stated.

Gazis allegedly walked outside and threw one pumpkin that struck near the vehicle's windshield. He threw a second pumpkin, which went through the driver's side window and hit the woman in the head, according to court documents.

Police reviewed surveillance video and said it did not appear the vehicle came close to hitting Gazis' spouse or child.

Gazis has been charged with aggravated assault and propulsion of missiles.
