In a stalemate with lawmakers over raising the minimum wage or requiring companies to have paid sick leave, Gov. Tom Wolf said Thursday he will impose those requirements on companies getting loans, grants or tax breaks from the state.
According to the Associated Press, the minimum wage that incentives-receiving companies must pay is $13.50 an hour, rising to $15 an hour on July 1, 2024, under an executive order signed by Wolf. State contractors already must pay that amount, under a prior executive order Wolf signed in 2016.
The sick pay requirement has no required time frame attached to it.
Pennsylvania’s minimum wage has been set to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour since 2009, when Congress last increased it.
This proves how out of touch he is with everything and specifically with how this would affect small businesses but also proves he don’t care about improving the state only improving his status with in politics…. I would love to sit down with him and discuss how his stupidity will do so much harm to the state I call home and how his stupidity has already done more harm and these are all reasons why I didn’t ever vote for him. King socialist at work .. I guarantee he wouldn’t meet with me and other local businesses owners to talk about it because he is proving that he is that far out of touch with reality.. so with everything going on let’s raise wages, how about not being a clown and burring his head in the sand. Businesses and closing specifically small businesses for good because of his fear’s. On top of that he isn’t following the guidelines in place for the rest of us.
#out-of touch #proof that politicians are CLUELESS
Much thanks to governor wolf, for raising the states minimum wage…long time
forgotten, here; glad it is being instituted.
Virtually impossible for a woman with children, living off a ” standard ” $.7.25 wage; at least that is the bulk of what retail is using as a grid, HOW is the question, because women will never get out of poverty, on that wage…daycare !? Typical cost per week is anywhere from $ 200.00 to $ 300.00 per week…you really want a stranger around your child, 5 days a week !? Maybe cheaper staying home !! Thank you, governor wolf !! Longtime, overdo !!
maybe stop popping out tax deductions, i mean ssi checks, i mean babies, and stop snorting lines…maybe you’ll be able to afford things and maybe get a real job that pays more than fast food jobs…which are not designed to be long term jobs, but rather first jobs for kids in school.
Yup drive up inflation more and give unskilled labor more money to pick boogers. Wolf get the f out of dodge.
Well done Tom.
PHILADELPHIA. ( KENSING AV. 😱)
