Reserve a parking space in advance to avoid heavy downtown Omaha traffic

OMAHA, Neb. (KPTM) — We’ve all been there. You’re in a hurry to a show, event or just a bite downtown- then you get there and there is not a single parking spot.

Now, Park Omaha and OPPD have made it possible to reserve a parking spot in advance by using a phone app.

The App is called ParkMobile and can be downloaded from the App Store.

Once downloaded, all you need to get started is put in your location. From there, just input the date and time period you would like the spot to be held for.

Users can then pay directly through the app for the reservation.

App users can reserve a particular lot or garage weeks or even months in advance of an event.

Once submitted, a spot will be secured at the lot for the individual.

Different filters help you look through exactly what kind of lot or garage you are wanting to find. Some filters include, covered parking, security guard on site, or even electrical car charges.

However, the app does come with some catches. Only those looking to reserve a spot for a specific event are able to do so.

It will not be an option for people who use the parking lots or garages on a day-to-day basis.

The reservation also only secures you a spot at the lot location, not a specific parking spot itself.

The Holiday season is right around the corner and this could stop one headache of planning an eventful day.

With events such as Hamilton and Omaha’s Holiday of Lights coming up, this may come in handy.
