A mock DUI vehicle crash was held on the campus of West Virginia State University on Thursday.

The educational mock crash involved student actors portraying the roles of victims, including one student who is found to be intoxicated at the scene, according to a news release from the university. The West Virginia State University Police Department and the Institute Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene as they would a real emergency situation.

The mock crash was held as part of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, which aims to bring attention to issues posed by excessive drinking among college students.

A DUI simulator was also available for students to experience inside the Wilson University Union.
