A stroll in Forsyth Park took a deadly turn around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. One man is dead, and another man has been charged with murder.

As joggers, ball players, and cyclists got in some exercise on a pleasant fall evening, Lebert Harrison, 22, and an unidentified woman pushed their newborn in a stroller toward the south end of the park. There, according to Savannah Police, Harrison and Desmond Warren, 33, exchanged words.

Harrison then brandished a firearm, said police, and shot Warren several times, then fled the scene with the woman and baby.

Police found Warren suffering from life-threatening wounds on the sidewalk near the basketball courts. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center, where he later died.

Three hours after the shooting, Harrison and the woman arrived at the SPD Headquarters on Habersham Street to speak with detectives. Following the interview, Harrison was arrested and charged with murder and the woman was released without charges. Harrison is being held in the Chatham County Detention Center.

This is a developing story.
