URBANA, Ill. (WCCU) — The Illinois Fire Service Institute planned to have a prescribed burn on Thursday but had to scrap those plans due to weather conditions.
They still, however, did use some of the areas next to the Urbana dog park to work on training for future burns.
Firefighters were taught how to use the tools used to start the fires and how to extinguish the flames safely.
Anyone hoping to use the dog park was still welcome, they just may have noticed a little smoke in the area from the training.
