Redhawk Foundation raises $34K for Natick sports in inaugural golf tourney

NATICK — A local charity that provides financial support to Natick youth sports and activities recently raised $34,000 in a golf tournament.

In a press release, the Redhawk Foundation said money raised during its inaugural Redhawk Cup golf tournament would go toward improving Natick's athletic fields and facilities; upgrading sports equipment; and covering fees and costs for youth programs.

Held Aug. 2, the Redhawk Cup drew swings from 100 golfers at the Framingham Country Club. Donors included the Austin Memorial Foundation and Natick local businesses.  

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our local community to help us launch The Redhawk Foundation,” said co-founder Pete Warren, in a statement. “We look forward to working with our community to find ways to ensure each kid has the best possible experience, free from judgment and limitations, when participating in Natick youth sports and activities.” 

The Redhawk Foundation was established earlier thsi year by Natick residents Jessica and Mike Allain and Natalie and Pete Warren to enhance the experience for all youth sports and programming.  

In addition to the golf tourney, organizers awarded prizes and held a silent auction. It has scheduled the second annual tourney for Aug. 1, 2022, also at the Framingham Country Club.   

The charity functions under the larger umbrella of Foundation for MetroWest. Its goal is to inspire donors, nonprofit organizations and local businesses to donate to communities that need financial support, according the foundation's website.  

Since its inception in 1995, Foundation for MetroWest has “distributed nearly $19 million back into MetroWest communities,” encompassing 700,000 residents from Westborough to Waltham and Acton to Walpole, according to its website.
