PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A new restaurant that promises to up Park Slope's pizza game has officially opened its doors on Sixth Avenue.

Crosta, which means crust in Italian, opened its 486 Sixth Ave. storefront near 12th Street on Wednesday evening.

The new eatery is led by Executive Chef Andres Rodas and co-owner Andres Whang, who own several other restaurants in the borough, including Park Slope's own Piccoli Trattoria and Belli Osteria in Clinton Hill.

Rodas and Whang said Crosta was prompted by a need they saw in the neighborhood for a "great pizza and gelato place."

The menu features 13 Neapolitan style pies that use a long-rising dough, a selection of appetizers, sandwiches and gelato made in house by Rodas. Everything on the Crosta menu is under $20, according to the restaurant.

The opening comes several months after plans for Crosta were first announced when owners applied for their liquor license.

The restaurant includes 50 indoor seats, 12 of which are at the bar, and 20 outdoor spots.
