North Providence police charge man with murder in deadly stabbing

The North Providence Police Department said it arrested a 59-year-old man in the stabbing death of a 29-year-old man.

Mark Santilli was charged with murder in the killing of Torrezz Lumpkins, police said Thursday.

The department responded to 4 Smithfield Road on Wednesday around 7:44 p.m. for a disturbance call.

Police say Santilli stabbed Lumpkins in the neck area, resulting in a severe injury.

The department says Lumpkins was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Santilli was charged with murder and arraigned in Kent County District Court.

Police said the victim and the suspect knew each other.
