The West Hartford Police Department celebrated the swearing in of four new officers Wednesday in Town Council chambers, one of whom is returning to the department after a stint with the United States Secret Service.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor administered the oath of office to all four officers at the ceremony.

Officer Hunter Humble is from East Haddam, CT, and a 2013 graduate of Nathan Hale Ray High School. After earning his bachelor’s degree in political science and Arabic at Central Connecticut State University, he became an officer with the West Hartford Police Department, and then joined the U.S. Secret Service as a special agent, working in the New York Field Office and on assignments throughout the country for the current and former presidents of the United States.

Humble said that while he enjoyed his time with the Secret Service, he is passionate about local policing and has returned to  the West Hartford Police Department.

After a few weeks of in-service training, he will assume full duties, Capt. Eric Rocheleau said.

The other three new offices will be attending the Police Academy and then participate in the department’s field training before assuming their responsibilities. Those three officers include Off. Kevin Kaselouskas, Off. Jacob Lamb, and Off. Thomas Wallace.

Kaselouskas is a native of Enfield, CT, and a 2013 graduate of Enfield High School. To fulfill his childhood dream of a career in law enforcement, he furthered his studies, earning an associate’s degree in criminal justice at Asnuntuck Community College followed by a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice – with a minor in philosophy – from Westfield State University.

Kaselouskas served in the United States Coast Guard for four years after graduation, initially serving aboard the Coast Guard Cutter SPENCER stationed out of Boston, where he was part of a patrol regulating New England fisheries. He also spent tie assigned to the Eastern Pacific where his responsibilities included apprehending marine-based drug smugglers off the coast of Central America.

Also during his time with the Coast Guard Kaselouskas trained as a boatswain’s mate in Yorktown, VA, and served in Woods Hole, MA, training as a coxswain and an EMT, and working on numerous search and rescue missions.

Lamb is from Salisbury, CT, and a graduate of Salisbury Boys School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Richmond, where he also played Division 1 baseball for the Richmond Spiders.

Lamb worked as a special education paraprofessional at the elementary and middle school, Salisbury Central School, before moving to the West Hartford area with his girlfriend to begin his pursuit of a career in law enforcement.

Wallace is a 2011 graduate of Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT, and then attended Lincoln Culinary Institute in Hartford, where he earned a Certificate of Culinary and Arts.

He had his first taste of law enforcement when, while at Lincoln Culinary Institute, he was given the opportunity to work as a security officer at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Following that assignment he worked as sous chef at Stoneridge Retirement Community in Mystic, CT, and is now furthering his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer with the West Hartford Police Department.
