Man faces murder charge after shooting incident with couple at Forsyth Park

Savannah Police Violent Crimes detectives said they made a quick arrest in the eadly shooting of a man on Oct. 20 in Forsyth Park.

Officers said they responded to the south end of Forsyth Park, around 7:30 p.m. where they discovered Desmond Warren, 33, on the sidewalk near the basketball courts suffering from life threatening gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Memorial Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries, reports confirmed.

The initial investigation from police said that the Warren had been in a verbal altercation with another male and female who were pushing an infant in a stroller through the park.

During the course of this verbal altercation, reports claim the male produced a firearm and shot the victim several times. No children or other persons in the park at the time were injured during the incident.

Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses who came forward.

At 10:30 p.m. the suspect, Lebert Harrison, 22, and the female arrived at SPD Headquarters and spoke with detectives.

After the interview, Harrison was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently in the Chatham County Detention Center. The female was released without charges.
