81-year-old man killed in Nashville house fire on Southwood Drive

Nashville officials are investigating a fatal house fire that took place near the Nashville International Airport Wednesday night.

The Metro Nashville Police Department on Thursday identified the victim as Terry Blackwell, 81.

Nashville Fire Department arson investigators are investigating the Wednesday night fatal fire.

Nashville Fire Department spokeswoman Kendra Loney said crews were dispatched to the 400 block of Southwood Drive for reports of a structure fire.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the home and, after it was put out, crews found the victim unresponsive in the home.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Loney said the medical examiner will determine the man's cause of death.
