Mobile Police are responding a shooting on Ann St. at Azalea St.

A suspect in a Wednesday Midtown Mobile shooting shot himself when encountered by police Thursday morning, according to police.

Police reported this about the Wednesday shooting:

On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at approximately 2:09 p.m., police officers responded to the 1500 block of Blair Avenue in reference to one shot. Upon arrival, police officers discovered the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the rear of his left upper arm. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined an unknown subject approached the victim, demanding the keys to his vehicle. When the victim refused, they got into a physical altercation, and the subject discharged his weapon and struck the victim as he was running away. The subject fled the area before police officers arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. This is an ongoing investigation.
