A sheriff's deputy in Ohio shot a Wisconsin man Tuesday after they said he randomly stabbed two people at an Ohio turnpike travel center.
Authorities released cellphone video showing what they said is the man with a knife in his hand.
Investigators identified the man as Thomas Conner from Beloit.
The deputy in the video opened fire, shooting and injuring Conner.
Minutes earlier, authorities said Conner stabbed and killed a traveler from Indiana.
A second man, Alan Austin, 53, of Delavan, Wisconsin, was also stabbed. He survived.
"The victim thought he had been punched by the suspect until he pulled back and saw the knife. At that point, he scurried out of his seat into the back of his van, got out the side door of the van and actually ran to an EMT that was there by happen chance," Sandusky County Sheriff Christopher Hilton said.
Authorities say even though Austin and Conner are both from Wisconsin, they did not know each other.
