Newington Toy Store To Close Due To Supply-Chain Issues
A Newington toy store that opened earlier this year has announced it will close.
NEWINGTON, CT — Jojo's Toys and More says it will be closing its doors five months after opening due to supply-chain issues, FOX 61 reported. Owner Eliah Lefferts, who relocated to Connecticut from California to pursue his family's dream of opening a toy shop, said that prices skyrocketed recently.
Lefferts said that at the end of last month products "that would've cost us $3.74 went up to $12.99," according to FOX 61. He also said that it's taking an average of 75 days for items to show up from when they're ordered.
The store is named after Lefferts's 5-year-old son, JoJo. When the shop opened, the community welcomed them, but in the end it wasn't enough.

Last week, the owners made the difficult decision to close the shop, according to NBC CT. Lefferts and his wife, Priscilla, are now looking for jobs. They plan on staying in Newington.
JoJo's Toys and More will be open once more on Saturday from 11 am. to 7 p.m. featuring a sale and farewell celebration.

With the holidays coming up, the combination of labor shortages and supply-chain issues with a surge in demand will likely cause headaches for consumers. Manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers are struggling to meet the rebounding demand for everything from cars to chicken wings to cleaning supplies.
Experts say that the bottleneck won't last forever, but it could take months to fix and lead to store shelves empty of holiday gifts and other items.
