JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
Oct. 21 Update: A Jacksonville man is dead after he was hit by a truck Wednesday night on Jacksonville’s Westside.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 37-year-old was riding his bike west on Beaver Street near Maple Avenue just before 10:30 p.m., when troopers said he was struck by a red Chevrolet pickup truck, that was also driving in the same direction.
He died at the scene. The driver, a 21-year-old Raiford man, was not hurt.

A fatal crash has occurred at Beaver Street and Maple Avenue on Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area and died at the scene. Further information about the victim has not been released.
Beaver Street is blocked in both directions due to the fatal crash.
