The latest in the “Looking for Lincoln Conversations” series Wednesday focused on the sixteenth President’s tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery and its preservation over the decades.

As early as 1885, the terrace and other parts of the tomb required major new structural support, due in part to water/foundation issues, according to Sheila Ryan of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Historic Sites division. Ryan was co-presenter with Margo Carlin and Justin Blanford, both also with IDNR.

Next in the series, on November 10th: Abraham Lincoln Fathers a City: a Glimpse into the Namesake City of Lincoln, Illinois.
