The Boise firefighter who was found unconscious in a fire truck is now at home recovering.

On Oct. 15, a Boise fire crew responded to a fire on William Street. When they arrived, one of the firefighters was found unconscious and unresponsive in the back of the truck. He was rushed to St. Luke's and kept in their care for the next several days.

“I am happy to share that our firefighter is doing much better and is on the road to recovery,” said Mark Niemeyer, Boise fire chief. The firefighter was released from the hospital Wednesday and sent home to rest.

As the firefighter left the hospital, he was greeted by a crowd of Boise Fire Department employees who wanted to show their support.

“We will continue to provide support and assistance to him, his family, and members of the Boise Fire Department," Niemeyer said.
