APD ID's man that died after hitting curb, being thrown off moped in East Austin

The Austin Police Department has identified the man that died after striking a curb and being thrown off a moped in East Austin earlier this month.

It happened in the 3800 block of Manor Road at 11:26 p.m. on October 6th.

APD says officers responded to the area due to reports of a crash, in which 61-year-old Bobby Jones was driving a moped, he hit a curb and was thrown off it.

After the incident, Jones was taken to the hospital where he later died due to his injuries on October 14th.

Police report this to be Austin’s 93rd fatal crash of the year, resulting in 100 fatalities total for 2021. Last year at this time, there were 66 fatal crashes resulting in 71 fatalities.
